Avoiding razor burns and cuts when shaving

Everyone cuts themselves at some stage of their lives when they are shaving, but what are the known methods for putting a stop to the cuts quickly and taking out the risk of razor burns altogether.

Cuts

These can actually bleed for quite a long time period. Fifteen minutes is a far as it can go and will even rise if you are haemophilic or medication increases the way in which your blood flows.

There are a few ways to actually put a stop to these cuts, and they are as followed:

  • Getting your hands on any kind of simple alcohol and pressing down on the cut until it stops, this can be a bit painful though.

  • The most common one is simply to put a small piece of toilet paper on the cut, this is seen on everything from films to cartoons as the best way to cure a cut.

  • Vaseline can also stop the bleeding and will also top the cut from turning into scab.

  • Another method is to shave in or just after a nice cold shower as this will stop the blood flow to the face and will make sure you do bleed very little if you do cut yourself.

However a shaving brush used beforehand can help to reduce cutting as it makes sure the shaving soap is distributed onto the face in an even way, this is also helpful when it comes to razor burn as it can help prevent it from even occurring.

The very nasty Razor Burn

This is caused by using a blunt or dirty razor and comes in the form of a red rash.

Ways to prevent it include using shaving gel or foam. Basically just clean the skin before you shave as well as making sure the blade you use is clean and not old and you should be fine, aftershave can also make sure you do not get the nasty burn.
